An original letter to the Czech Embassy, signed by the applicant, may be used to appeal a visa denial within 15 days of receiving the rejection letter (i.e. in person or by post). At the time of the appeal, a fee of 80 EUR is due. In case of a family member of an EU citizen, there is no charge for the appeal.

The appeal must contain the data of the applicant (name, date of birth and address of permanent residence, or other delivery address) and what is seen as a violation of the law or the incorrectness of the decision or procedure that preceded it.

The reason for the appeal cannot be facts, which the applicant did not document in the refused application for the grant of a short-term visa. Each applicant over the age of 15 must submit the appeal separately.

The Czech Republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs makes a decision within 60 days of receiving the appeal.

NOTE: It is stipulated that any objection to a refusal to apply for a short-term visa (Schengen visa) must be submitted in written form (not by e-mail) to the embassy within 15 days. Therefore, requests to initiate an appeals process sent to the Embassy by email are irrelevant and the Embassy will not respond.
